Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. If your computer/iTunes does not recognize the iPad, then the cable is probably bad.

It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple.Ĭould be the charger, cable or iPad. iPads don't come chip and my mom's made her very happy while it worked. Not a copy & paste of your commonn reponces, I have tryed them all and don't work for this problem.

Please Apple, have some professional personnel respond to this message with a useful response. The wdog happens when the iPad is asleep, the lid is closed or the power button is pressed. I turned off all the apps to make sure none of them was hanging and causing the wdog to bite. Now I have a dead iPad unable to charge or reset or be reestablish because this wdog reset. Now it's very difficult to change the iPad because it's required to press the home button a every few seconds to prevent the iPad from going to the sleep mode and inevitable in this unresponsive mode.įrom the Logs I noticed that the iPad is resetting for a wdog reset, the reset counter went up every time I was able to turn it on before the battery got depleted. I have to do the reset procedure to see the red battery icon but when the screen goes off, the iPad stops charging. Unfortunately now it ran out of battery and just won't charge. The iPad worked well until locked, previous step is needed to use it again. My mom's iPad2 started exhibiting the same behavior.įrist it was updated with iOS 7.1.2 and it stopped working (turned itself off) after a few minutes, pressing the power button or closing the magnetic lid.Ī restart was needed to turn the iPad on, pressing the power and home button at the same time until the apple logo appears.
